Randall Soy: Our adventure continues in Vancouver

This is the final post of a three-part series by Randall Soy, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he shares what he and his family are most looking forward to experiencing on their 2017 summer voyage to Alaska aboard Seven Seas Mariner.

If there is one thing that I’m certain about is that the seven nights of our Alaska voyage will go by in a flash. Before we know it, we will be packing our bags and saying fond farewells to our favorite crew and newfound friends. This would be bittersweet on any other voyage; but this cruise ends in my hometown of Vancouver. We’ll be sure to extend a few extra days.

I may be a little bit biased, but Vancouver is truly one of the best destinations in the world. From architecture, food, parks and diversity, Vancouver has it all. During our visit, we will certainly visit Granville Island, Yaletown and Stanley Park; one of the largest city parks in North America. Riding bikes around the Sea wall as a family is truly a memorable experience.. Of course, we have plenty of friends and family to visit and take us to the endless choices of great restaurants across the city, but you don’t have to be a local to get the full Canadian experience.

All of our Alaska voyages that begin or end in Vancouver feature a 5-night Land Program through the Canadian Rockies. You can expand your Alaska adventure to include an unforgettable exploration of the Canadian West aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, a luxurious and comfortable train. While on the train, you enjoy live commentary by your host and the train driver will even slow down if he spots wildlife for you to snap that priceless photo.

Are you also thinking about sailing to Alaska next summer? Here is a little more inspiration that will seal the deal and allow you to get a head start on the planning process for your voyage aboard Seven Seas Mariner and maybe even a pre- or post-cruise adventure in the Canadian Rockies:

Canadian Rockies by Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver

Embark on the Rocky Mountaineer, an award-winning train that presents an ever-changing landscape of beautiful mountains, rivers and forests. This is the best way to witness the majestic glaciers and snowcapped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Plus, we get to overnight in Kamloops and climb over Rogers Pass, among many more highlights. Our 5-night pre- or post-cruise Land Program includes an elegant hotel stay in Banff, Alberta, transportation and transfers, as well as the exquisite meals and beverages served during your journey aboard this elegant train.
