Another Milestone Conquered: Seven Seas Explorer Floats Out of Fincantieri

With the sound of a symbolic bottle of champagne breaking against her side, another major milestone was celebrated in the construction of Seven Seas Explorer® as she floated out of the building dock at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Genoa, Italy.  Construction will now focus on completing Seven Seas Explorer’s interior spaces including the opulent suites, elegant lounges and gourmet restaurants that will make her the most luxurious ship ever built.

Robin Lindsay, Executive Vice President of Vessel Operations attended the float out ceremony and watched as the champagne bottle shattered into tiny pieces – a maritime tradition meant to bring good luck and prosperity. With only nine months left until her grand debut in Monaco, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ vision of building the most luxurious ship ever is quickly becoming a reality.

Every corner of Seven Seas Explorer will exude elegance, beginning with a new category of luxury suite. The 3,875 square-foot Regent Suite offers guests an unmatched luxury experience, with two plush bedrooms, an expansive well-appointed living space and a beam-to-beam private outdoor balcony. The suite also features a cruise industry first in-suite spa retreat with personal sauna, steam room, relaxation loungers and a spa treatment area where guests will enjoy complimentary, unlimited treatments from Canyon Ranch SpaClub®.

1The opulence found in the Regent Suite sets the tone for all categories of luxury suites onboard, where guests will experience some of the most spacious accommodations and the largest balconies in the cruise industry.

Seven Seas Explorer will also introduce two new gourmet restaurants with Chartreuse which features a lavish ambiance and epicurean delights found in Paris’ finest eateries, and Pacific Rim which offers a gourmet dining experience that brings to life the rich culinary traditions of Asia.  These will complement the four other dining venues onboard to offer significant culinary variety.

Additionally, Seven Seas Explorer will feature the brand’s first culinary instruction center called the Culinary Arts Kitchen.  Elevating cuisine to an art form, the Culinary Arts Kitchen will provide guests with personalized instruction at eighteen individual cooking stations.

  4. We’ll be sailing on the maiden voyage and seeing this phase of Explorer’s progress is most appreciated. The always pristine exterior of every Regent Ship is off course still in the paint buckets, but seeing the name on the stern is assurance enough that when we get our first glimpse of Explorer it will exceed what now, we can only imagine. Thank you for adding to our anticipation of a most memorable cruise.

  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! We are so looking forward to our booked holiday cruise in 2016/2017 from Miami/Miami to Miami/Los Angeles. These will be our 5th & 6th cruises with Regent. They have been surreal experiences & the services on the Mariner on the previous cruises, beyond our imagination!
Again wishing Regent, Good Luck & Happy Sailings on the Explorer.
