More to Explore: Luxurious Landscapes & Lisbon

Legend states that Ulysses founded Lisbon, calling it Olisipo. Others claim that the name is Phoenician, but all agree it’s one of Europe’s most fascinating destinations. And what better way to explore this wonderful capital city than with a FREE Land Program – available as a Pre-Cruise option on the Lands of Wonder itinerary aboard Seven Seas Mariner®.

Below is an overview of this exciting program:

After a comfortable transfer from Lisbon airport to Lapa Palace Hotel, spend the remainder of the day settling in and enjoying the amenities of this luxurious resort, which was once the private residence of the Count of Valencas. Lapa Palace Hotel is conveniently located within easy reach of Lisbon’s attractions, if you wish to explore the city or shop before retiring for the evening at the hotel.

Following breakfast at the hotel, tour many of the cultural and architectural highlights of Lisbon, from Belem, a historical suburb where you will enjoy a tasting of traditional Portuguese pastries, to the Alfama neighborhood. Alfama’s most famed attraction is the Castle of St. George, where you will have a close-up view of this hilltop citadel. Then at the wonderfully atmospheric Port Wine Institute, you will enjoy a sampling of various ports. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel to relax before the evening’s entertainment—a traditional Portuguese dinner at a Fado restaurant.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of Sintra. The highlight here is the National Palace, with Moorish designs that decorate the interior. Then a coffee break at the luxurious Seteais Palace, which is followed by lunch and free time in Cascais, where you might enjoy shopping at designer boutiques or simply gazing out to sea while sitting in the cool shade of a palm.

Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will be transferred to the port for embarkation aboard Seven Seas Mariner®, which was recently named Cruise Ship of the Year by the World Ocean & Cruise Liner Society. After departing Lisbon, you will enjoy 24 glorious nights sailing the coast of Africa until reaching gorgeous Cape Town.
